4 Hours for Key Lime Pie?

Yep, the wife and I drove down to the Florida Keys for some key lime pie and to visit our favorite spot on the east coast. We went to the Keys on our honeymoon and decided to drive down and eat dinner at our favorite restaurant in the Keys, The Fish House and let me tell you, it was worth the trip.

We haven’t been down to the keys for a long time and things are changing immensely. The old 2 lane highway (US 1) is fast becoming 4 lanes and the causeways and draw bridges are being converted to actual bridges. That’s not bad for traffic flow but it was always cool to wait for the draw bridge to go up and watch a big sailboat go under while relaxing in the hot Florida sun.

We had a great time traveling down to the Keys and it was worth it to drive 4 hours for dinner and key lime pie. The pie was so good we brought back an entire pie for the rest of the family. :)

Our trip is almost over so I’ll be back at the office on Monday if anyone needs anything.

Went Down to Siesta Key

We took a drive to the south yesterday to the number 2 ranked beach in Florida (South Beach in Miami is number 1) Siesta Key and all I can say is Wow. It is a beautiful area and an area I could buy a house and spend some serious time there. It’s just south of Sarasota which is a very interesting city and has some incredible neighborhoods on the coast. We were on the beach in Siesta for less than 10 minutes and spotted two bottlenose dolphins about 20 yds from the shore.

So far we’ve seen Dolphins, Manatee and about every water bird known to man but we haven’t seen any sea turtles yet, that’s our goal now. :)

Some more photos from Siesta Key.

Dolphins in the Morning!

This morning Alane and I went for our morning walk on the beach and while we were walking she spotted something off in the distance. We stopped and watched for a while and couldn’t believe our eyes, there was a mother dolphin and her calf swimming along. We watched them for over an hour and saw about 6-8 different sets of dolphins swimming about 50 yds from the shore. Unfortunately we didn’t have our camera or video camera so we couldn’t film them. We are taking the video camera every morning from now on! I hope we can see more, it was incredible to see them.

Here are some more photos.
