If you’ve read my story The Roller Coaster that was 2009, you read that I closed my office down after an underhanded incident that happened in late May 2009.

Shortly after this incident, I closed the office down and went back to working from home. I’ve always believed things happen for a reason and, when one door closes another one opens. But, last night, around 6:30pm my old office building burned and the interior of the building was completely destroyed.

I went over today to check it out and took a few photos (some of the ones posted here are from the local newspaper’s site). The spot where my office was located was completely burned and a total loss. I can’t help think about what it would have been like, had I not left that complex.

I’m going to chalk this up to another positive (for me, not for the tenants and owner of the building) and look at this from the “blessing in disguise” point of view. Even though, most of the first 7 months of 2009 were terrible both personally and professionally, there have been so many great things happen in the last 4 months, that strongly outweigh the negative.

I feel terrible for the owner and tenants of the building, whom I know personally. They lost everything.
