It was a great show! I had VIP Tickets which included Floor seats and a VIP Lounge that had food and drinks for VIP’s.

I had a great time at the shows, Dave and the Band put on an outstanding show both nights. The setlists were completely different each night and it was nice to hear some of the new music. Their new album Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King drops on June 2nd. I’m very excited about the new album, I’ve heard 5 songs from the album so far and they are very good.

While in Vegas, I played my favorite 3 card poker and did very well (for a change). The first night I was there, I sat down at a table and on the very first hand, got the best possible 3 card hand, a straight flush! That made my day. It got better, I hit 3 of a kind 5 times over my stay, which is the second best hand at 3 card. I actually came back from Vegas with more money than I took with me. That was a first!

I’m heading out to Vegas for a little business and while I’m there, my favorite band is going to be at the MGM Grand for 2 nights. The Dave Matthews Band is on their Spring Tour and will be playing the MGM Grand for 2 nights, May 8th and 9th.

Here’s the best part, I got VIP tickets for the show. I get to go to a Before the show party, watch the show from the floor (very close to the stage) and attend the VIP after party.

It should be a great show, the band is getting ready to put out a new album on June 2nd, titled Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King (a tribute to Leroi Moore, a band member that passed away last summer from an ATV accident). I’ve heard a few of the new songs and they are very, very well done.

I guess being in Vegas for the show isn’t too bad either, I’m looking forward to playing some cards as well.

I really hope I can get my camera into the show, I’m sure there will be many great photo opportunities. I’ll have my iPhone but really want to get the digital camera inside. We’ll see how it goes. Keep an eye out for photos in the next week or so.

I started off the year with a little Caribbean Vacation, I went on a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale that went to St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Tortola. That was just what this mid-westerner needed, it was freezing cold when I left and 80+ degrees in the Caribbean.

While I was on the cruise the Steelers were in the NFL Playoffs and continued on to go to the Super Bowl. We loaded up the car and my Dad, my Son and I headed to Tampa to go to the game. We met my cousin Jay G. there and we had a blast. You can see my video diary of the trip here – Steeler Fanatic

WOW, properly describes last nights show, the setlist was incredible and I’ve never seen so much energy by Dave and the band.

They opened with Don’t Drink the Water and didn’t slow down from there, playing some of my favorites like, Two Step, Cornbread, Stay, Jimi Thing, #41 and a great cover of Peter Gabriels “Sledgehammer”. The highlight for me was the last song of the night, my favorite DMB song is Louisana Bayou and when Dave strapped on the electric guitar, I knew it was coming. :) They totally rocked Bayou!

DMB Saxaphone player Leroi Moore is out recovering from a very bad ATV accident and was replaced by Jeff Coffin from Bella Fleck and the Flectones, he did an amazing job. Another new addition to the band is longtime friend Tim Reynolds (who plays with Dave on the solo gigs), Tim joined DMB after keyboardist Butch Taylor abruptly left the band in May. I was very impressed with how well Tim fit in and what an incredible addition, he was brilliant.

Dave is known for being a bit eccentric and often engages the crowd with some very funny banter during the shows. These are commonly known as “Davism’s”. Last night was no different than other shows with a very funny incident when Dave had a spider land on his head during a song and start building a web. Dave finished the song without missing a beat then started jumping around and wiping his head…. He explained that a spider was building a web on his head and was trying to figure out how to tell the spider to get the f*** off my head without knowing spider language… it was hilarious.

I think I’ll drive up tonight and see the 2nd show depending on the weather, there are severe thunderstorms in the forecast. I just don’t know how they can top last nights show!
