Visit to the Doctor turns into an Eventful Week.

What a week here at the Lovell household. I just returned from Toronto after our team hosted the World Internet Summit’s Internet Challenge. This was after hosting it the week before in Dallas and the week before that, we had our Seminar in London. So, I’ve been an incredibly busy guy.

I got back from Toronto and started feeling pretty lousy, you know the deal, headache, body aches, stuffy nose, ears hurting, etc.. I thought I had my yearly bout of the flu coming on. I knew I had to get over this quickly as I was scheduled to fly out to Sydney, Australia on Sunday the 16th for a Rip2it Training Workshop.

So, I went to the family doctor and figured he would get me some antibiotics, decongestant, the usual cold and flu medicines. But…….

As with anything, life can throw some curveballs at you to keep you on your toes. What was to be a simple visit to the doctor for the flu/cold turned out to be a 4 day event with more doctors and numerous tests. When they checked my blood pressure which is standard procedure, the nurse looked at me and said, does your blood pressure run high? I said, not at all. It was 190/100!! So, she thought it might be a mistake and tested it again. Nope.. it wasn’t a mistake it was that high.

So, they put me through the normal procedures for the flu/cold and asked me to wait 30 mins. to take my blood pressure reading again…. no change in the reading it was still that high.

I was monitored for the next 24 hours and the readings varied from 190/100 to 160/88 but never lower, so off for more testing. You see, I have a very bad family history of heart disease and this worried everyone. My Father had a heart attack when he was 38 (in november of all months!), my Uncle Chuck has a heart transplant and my Father’s Mother died very young of a heart attack. You can see why we were worried.

An EKG and Blood tests were performed, no heart attack but there are some early warning signs and the family history is there so, I have to go through some other tests this coming week. They put me on some Blood Pressure medication and an aspirin a day to get the pressure down.

Time for some changes….. It sucks that it takes something like this to realize that it’s time to make life changes but I’ve been through some pretty scary medical issues before and I know how serious they need to be taken. I get my cholesterol reading this week and I think that will be the deal breaker.

I’ve been eating pretty well (when I’m not on the road) but that is the first step and I know it and the next is exercise, I have to get back into shape and start exercising once again. My goal will be to drop 25lbs and completely change my diet to ‘heart healthy’.

Stress…. oh yes, I have to eliminate stress. This is ALL on me. This last couple of years have been incredibly amazing, our company has gone from mid six figures to close to 8 figures and with that comes an enormous amount of responsibility. It’s not all about me now, there are company officers, employees and investors to think about and I put way to much pressure on myself. I will be making some serious changes when it comes to how I handle stress. I know this will take some time and effort but I know I can do it for my family and the company.

Don’t worry, I’m doing fine, I just need to take some time to re-group and make some changes in my life that will keep me here for many, many years to come :)

UK Trip Photos

We are back in the US now and I’m finally caught up enough to post to my Blog. It was a great trip for several reasons. First, we had a great seminar with experts from all over the world speaking to our audience, we received great feedback from the attendees. We also accomplished another first during the event, we broadcast it live through our new Social Networking Platform – Got Access. It was great exposure for Got Access and helped us test out some new features.

The second part of the trip was our Rip2it Training Workshop, the workshop followed the seminar on Monday and Tuesday. I really enjoy doing the workshops, this is where I get to teach our members for 2 days, how to use our software in conjunction with Niche Marketing. This is my passion so it’s something I love to do, sure it’s two 9 hour days of speaking but it goes by quickly and I really enjoy it.

Finally, the tourist part of the trip. This year, I was able to convince both of my sons to go with us to London for the Seminar and Workshop. They were a bit hesitant going in because I told them they had to work 3 – 14 hour days if they came along. Both boys agreed and they both did an incredible job, in fact, we offered them both full time positions after they completely took control of the video, broadcast and recording of the event.

We did some sightseeing in London and had a great time, we visited the Victoria & Alberts Museum, Imperial War Museum and The Winston Churchill Museum and all were full of British History and we spent hours in all 3. In between Museums, we went to the usual tourist spots, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and we walked all over admiring the architectural history of London.

For our final tourist outing we decided to travel to Windsor (the royal families home) and visit Windsor Castle. It was an incredible day, I can’t even describe the history and feeling of walking through the castle and seeing all the artifacts. There was no photography allowed inside the castle so it will have to remain a memory. We were all overwhelmed seeing things like King Henry VIII’s armor, the Queen’s guard room with weapons dating back hundreds and hundreds of years, Knight room where every Knight in history has their shield displayed and the Waterloo room which was built to proudly display portraits of everyone who was involved in over-throwing Napoleon.

We walked all around Windsor and ate lunch in a 800 year old pub and enjoyed the sites walking along the Thames River. It was nice to see the countryside of England again, we visited many areas last year outside of London and really enjoyed it. London is nice but I’m an outdoors guy and love the green countryside and history of old England.

Here are some photos from the trip.

London Seminar this Friday

My 2 boys and I head out tonight for London in preparation for our upcoming Seminar located at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel near Heathrow. We are very excited and looking forward to the event. My sons will be operating our video equipment and working with the broadcast… stay tuned for that info on Thursday.

We are going to broadcast the event for those of you that can’t attend the seminar or make the trip across the pond to the UK. Although, I highly suggest you get out to a live event, this is the next best thing.

It’s funny because this will be the 4th time we broadcast our seminar live and there is another promoter out there touting that he’s the first to broadcast a seminar live. LOL I love it when people make claims like this and look foolish doing so.

Our company was the first in the Internet Marketing community to broadcast a full 3 day seminar live while the event was taking place and we did that back in March 2007 in Dallas Texas. We then went on to broadcast our event from Coventry, England in Oct. 2007, Washington DC in Aug. 2008 and now we’ll be broadcasting from London in a few days. So, to claim you are the first.. too funny.

Anyway, check us out if you can’t make it, we’ll have links here and on our main webpage when the time comes.
